Urban Water Management

The beginning professional:

  • Has knowledge of the complex problems of urban water management in relation to changing climatic conditions (water storage, controlled drainage of excess water and other operational actions in response to climatic changes).
  •  Has knowledge of water quality aspects in the context of the Water Frame Directive (WFD), for example: limit/prevent sewer overflows by adapting sewer systems, storage and settlement basins, etc.
  • Can communicate with the various stakeholders present in the urban area.

Rural Water Management

The beginning professional:

  • Has knowledge of the effects of climate change.
  • Has knowledge of (the effects of) the various measures available to reduce the effects of climate change.
  • Can deal with the conflicting interests that exist in the rural area.
  • Can effortlessly explain design and maintenance measures to various stakeholders.
  • Can communicate with the various stakeholders present in the rural area.

Automated Systems for the Collection and Interpretation of Geographical Data

The beginning professional:

  • Has knowledge of automated systems for the collection and interpretation of geographic data.
  • Has knowledge of drones, the advantages and disadvantages of these devices, and of the laws and regulations surrounding their use.
  • Has knowledge of possible alternatives for those cases where the use of drones is not allowed.

 

D1-K1-W1 (work processes): Uses automated systems in data processing

Investigates him/herself and his/her (working) environment

  • Can work with Geographic Information System (GIS) on tablet. Knows where to find relevant geographic information and how to interpret this data, both in maintenance and construction work.
  • Can control drones, use them to photograph and film and apply the information thus obtained for presentations, technical drawings and inventories.
  • Can work with digital measuring instruments.
  • Can calculate costs and benefits. Can compare different systems for collecting geographic data.
